Cecilia Yau is a young yet experienced and well-known designer. Through glittering crystals and three-dimensional cutting, she is a master in designing glamorous and elegant bridal wears. She is also a full member of Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association and Hong Kong United Youth Association as well as a renowned corporate image consultant. She specializes in designing uniform series for established companies such as Henderson Land Development Company Ltd, SJM Holdings Ltd etc. Among which, the uniform series of Henderson were awarded with ‘Outstanding Greater China Design Awards’ in 2013. Apart from designing, she has launched her own label Cecilia Yau Couture and Cecilia Yau Weddings where selections of chic and unique wedding gowns together with professional and artistic fashion photography services are provided with high appreciation from celebrities and the public. As a member of Child Development Matching Fund, Cecilia supports the youths to come out of poverty through participating in Child Development Initiative Alliance.

Cecilia studied at ESMOD International in Paris and obtained her first degree with distinction and a scholarship. During her study, she was also hired as a fashion and marketing consultant. Her achievements also earned her the opportunity to have her own fashion show in Paris. In 1999, she returned to Hong Kong and joined Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council. She was awarded with Hong Kong Fashion Designers’ Contest Overall Winner and Hong Kong Fashions Association Creative Award.

Cecilia’s talent is appreciated by the society. The famous brand ‘La Prairie’ awarded her Women of the Glamour Award in 2005. Hong Kong Communication Art Center awarded her The Ten Outstanding Designers and Outstanding Greater China Designs Winner in 2008 and 2013 respectively.

Fashion design is indispensable in Hong Kong creative industry. Cecilia dedicates her effort in promoting fashion design in Hong Kong to encourage and prepare fashion students to enter the industry. She has been invited to be the guest lecturer and tutor of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and CITA Clothing Industry Training Authority. With Cecilia’s high reputation in the industry, she was invited to be judges and guest speakers for various events and competitions including Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2004, 29th Hong Kong Watch & Clock Design Competition and 10th HK Eyewear Design Competition organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Mercedes-Benz Malaysian Fashion Week International Fashion Award 2003; Super Model Competition and Youth Fashion Designer Competition organized by Hong Kong Communication Art Centre; De Beers Diamond : Natures Miracle International Design Competition; 2nd Asian Wedding Arts & Design Competition; Redress-Ecochic Design Award 2011; Triumph Inspiration Award 2012(National Final) etc.

Renowned in both Hong Kong and overseas, Cecilia represented Hong Kong in participating various large-scaled fashion shows including 4th Fukuoka Asia Fashion Festival, Shanghai Fashion Festival 2001, New York Fashion Week 2001, EcoChic Hong Kong Fashion Show and Exhibition 2008, EcoChic Shanghai Fashion Show 2008, EcoChic Singapore Exhibition 2010, EcoChic Asia Fashion Show 2010, Redress on the Runway Fashion Show 2011, Forever Better with Miele by Redress Fashion Show 2011, Forever REDRESSED Exhibition at Harvey Nichols 2011 etc. She was also invited to participate in HKTDC’s overseas fairs in New York, Dubai, Japan and Mainland China to announce the leading position of Hong Kong in Asia and maintain the international competitiveness of Hong Kong.
