7+1 programme

Introduction

Co-organised by Hong Kong Design Centre and Centre for Entrepreneurship of the Chinese University of Hong Kong since 2008, the 12th “7+1 Entrepreneurship for Design & Creative Business Certificate Programme” (nicknamed “7+1”) will run this summer from 4 July - 22 August 2019.

In an era of artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data and ubiquitous network connectivity of people and things, every one of us will find new ways to interact with smart products, services, and systems, connecting to the world in a totally new experience. This is what every major first tier city in the world, including Hong Kong, is going through to become “smart”.

At the same time, the new Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Plan issued by the PRC’s National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Commerce has heralded the coming of age of the new Greater Bay Area, an emerging global powerhouse for technological innovation, cultural development, and economic growth. The combined global and regional trends have created tremendous opportunities as well as threats for Hong Kong design and creative professionals and practitioners, and they have to redefine their roles and strategies in the upcoming business landscape to stay competitive.

Fostering design entrepreneurship by blending User Experience (UX), technology, and business model to innovate is what makes our training program unique and well received in the past 11 editions. The 12th “7+1” will be taught by experienced instructor with deep understanding and hands-on-experience on the subjects, complemented with guest speakers from a wide spectrum of fields and a short study trip to a designated city in the Greater Bay Area. The programme will provide attendees with the management skills, resources and insights that a design and creative business needs to forge ahead for profitability and growth in the coming decade in one of the most vibrant regions in the world.
