Building Utopia with Design

Can you imagine how daily essentials, like a pair of shoes, a name card or a bike, would influence well-being of human beings? Briefly speaking, well-being is defined as a state characterized by health, happiness, and prosperity. Facing constant challenges in the society, does utopia where everyone lives happily remain unreachable?

The exhibition themed with “Design for a Betterment” showcasing the selected winning projects of DFA Design for Asia Awards 2017 is now running at D2 Place TWO. Visitors can learn about the design solutions that present design thinking and people-centric approach, which enhance and uplift the social and economic well-being of our cities.

The DFA Design for Asia Awards is the flagship programme of the Hong Kong Design Centre, celebrating design excellence and acknowledging outstanding designs with Asian perspectives. Since its launch in 2003, the DFA Design for Asia Awards has been a stage upon which design talents and corporations can showcase their design projects internationally. The programme is comprised of five major awards: Grand Award, Grand Award for Culture, Grand Award for Sustainability, Grand Award for Technology and Category Award.

Most of the exhibits are closely related to our everyday life. Designers’ creative approach makes each of them an important component of building a utopia.
