Bridging Design Entrepreneurs with Industry Experts

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” The opportunities of acquiring knowledge are essential for the start-ups to plan strategically on the business development in the long run. Design Incubation Programme (DIP) expands the horizons of the incubatees through a series of Business Knowledge Enrichment Programmes.

The incubatees received a fruitful learning experience again at the latest DIP Quarterly Networking Event, which was held on 26 April 2018 at the DIP Centre at Wong Chuk Hang. The three guest speakers shared key insights and industry news from different aspects and angles with the group of over 50 audiences.

Ms. Carrie Wong from Hong Kong Federation of Youth Group (HKFYG) began the session with an introduction of the new showroom in the SoHo area of Central organized by HKFYG. Targeted to tourists and foreign customers, the shop now offers consignment options to innovative design products and places start-ups and SMEs at the first priority.

Afterwards, Ms. Karen Wong from Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption spoke about the importance of integrity to the growth of business. She reminded that it is especially critical for start-ups to protect stakeholders’ interests and prevent corruption at the initial stage of venture, in order to enhance company’s image and competitiveness and maintain attractiveness for investors, staff and the market.

Ms. June Ngan from Hong Kong Trade Development Council brought good news to the incubatees on the exploration of international potential business at the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair & Printing & Packaging Fair. To encourage the participation of the young designers in this world-leading event, which attracted approximately 47,000 buyers from all over the world last year, DIP incubatees are offered with free admission badges as well as special guided tour to highlighted zones and seminars during the fair.

Wrapping up the seminar, incubatees enjoyed a rewarding networking exchange with potential business partners.
