Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2001 as a strategic partner of the HKSAR Government in establishing Hong Kong as centre of design excellence in Asia. HKDC pursues its public mission in using design and innovation to drive the value creation of business development and improve the well-being of society through the provision of diverse innovation-oriented knowledge sharing and by providing diverse exchange platforms, anchored by five major work directions: CONNECT, CELEBRATE, NURTURE, ADVANCE and ENGAGE.

HKDC’s flagship programmes include: 

  • Business of Design Week (BODW) (since 2002) – Asia’s leading annual conference and event on Design, Innovation and Brands; 
  • Design for Asia Awards (DFA Awards) (since 2003) – the most recognised design awards from an Asian perspective; 
  • Design Incubation Programme (DIP) (since 2012) and Fashion Incubation Programme (FIP) (since 2016) –two-year incubation programmes to nurture future design and fashion entrepreneurs; 
  • Fashion Asia Hong Kong (FAHK) (since 2016) – a new initiative combining conversations, interactions and cultural exchanges to energise the city’s image, and positioning it as an Asian hub for fashion trade and business development; &
  • Knowledge of Design Week (KODW) (since 2006) – an annual thematic design knowledge sharing platform on how design can solve complex challenges of our society.

1. Summer Intern (CITA, Kowloon Bay) (1 vacancy)

Responsibilities:

  1. To support DIP Secretariat in handling the daily operation of the DIP CITA Kowlonn Bay Centre in supporting the design-preneur community.
  2. To assist the team in preparing for events, ad-hoc projects or duties as assigned by centre managers
  3. To answer enquiries from visitors and the public and deal with different vendors
  4. To lead with active participation in the following tasks:
    • - DIP Surveys (for Incubatees / Alumni)
    • - Data Input to Website
    • - As Receptionist

Requirements:

  1. Undergraduates in any disciplines
  2. Experience in survey analysis, data input and documentation are preferred
  3. Good command of written and spoken English, Chinese & Mandarin
  4. Excellent time & project management, problem solving and people skills
  5. Able to work under pressure, detail-oriented, self-motivated and multi-tasking
  6. Proficiency in PC applications

2. Summer Intern (Wong Chuk Hang) (1 vacancy) (5 mins walk from MTR)

Responsibilities:

  1. To support DIP Secretariat in handling the daily operation of the DIP Wong Chuk Hang Centre in supporting the design-preneur community.
  2. To assist the team in preparing for events, ad-hoc projects or duties as assigned by centre managers
  3. To answer enquiries from visitors and the public and deal with different vendors
  4. To lead with active participation in the following tasks:
    • - Social Media Promotion (Bilingual)
    • - Website Data Update
    • - As Receptionist

Requirements:

  1. 1-2 years of experience developing and executing social media strategies
  2. Experience in generating content for social medial is critical
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as proofreading skills
  4. Good photo-shooting skill is preferred
  5. Good command of written and spoken English, Chinese & Mandarin
  6. Excellent time & project management, problem solving and people skills
  7. Able to work under pressure, detail-oriented, self-motivated and multi-tasking
  8. Proficiency in PC applications

Remarks:

  1. Period of Internship: Not more than 59 days between June to August 2018
